    How does it work?

    Frequently Asked Questions

    All FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions - Bulb 3.0
What is the recommended distance, and how long should one session last?
We recommend a distance of 15 to 50 cm for 10 to 20 minutes on the illuminated area per day. The further you are from the source, the longer you’ll need to use it, as intensity decreases with distance. Precise numbers can't be guaranteed as individual reactions vary, so listen to your body.
When is red and near-infrared light typically used?
Any time of day when you need a boost. Since therapy takes only up to 20 minutes, it's easy to fit into your schedule. It helps:

    – In the morning to energize and stay alert during the day,
    – Before a workout to support readiness and steady output,
    – After a workout to help ease post-activity tightness.
How often should red and near-infrared light be used?
Daily to maximize benefits. It takes only a few minutes. If daily use isn't possible, aim for at least 3 times a week.
Can I use red and near-infrared light multiple times a day?
Yes, but limit exposure of the same area to 30 minutes daily, divided into 2–3 sessions. No single session should exceed 20 minutes per area.
Is it necessary to wear protective glasses during therapy?
While we recommend wearing protective glasses, most of our customers simply close their eyes during therapy. If you have sensitive eyes or find the light uncomfortable, we advise using them. For complete peace of mind, consult your doctor.
What is the difference between red and near-infrared (NIR) light?
Red light is more surface-oriented and is typically used for the outer layers. Many people notice a fresher look for skin, hair, and nails.

Near-infrared light is designed for a farther reach below the surface, so it is often chosen for areas such as muscles and joints.

Both spectra support for natural renewal and a steady, comfortable feel but work at different levels.
Why don't we use pulse technology?

Pulse technology looks nice on paper. Just another feature. But in the case of LED devices, it is not substantiated. And it also does not meet our safety standards.

    We don't use it because:

    – We are inspired by nature. The sun emits a constant glow, it does not pulse.
    – It is not constant. For optimal results, usage should be consistent and without fluctuations.
    – LED is not a laser. Pulsing in high-power lasers supports the depth to which the light penetrates. LEDs have much lower radiation intensity, and pulsing reduces their effect.
    – It may not be well tolerated. Pulsing can cause headaches or discomfort in sensitive people. That's why we use Flicker-free technology, which prevents flickering.
    – There is no clear consensus among scientists. The frequency of pulses is still in question. No one knows for sure how often they should alternate.

Can the Bulb 3.0 operate RED and NIR modes separately?
Unfortunately, no. The Bulb 3.0 emits both modes simultaneously. For separate spectrum control, consider the newer Bulb 4.0 or any of our panels.
What are the differences between Bulb 3.0 and Bulb 4.0?
We continually enhance red and near-infrared light technology. The new Bulb 4.0 builds upon its predecessor's strengths, and both have their merits.

The Bulb 3.0 introduced 4 advanced wavelengths, high irradiance, and Flicker-free technology, eliminating subliminal flickering common in traditional LEDs, which can cause headaches.

    The Bulb 4.0 adds:
    – Two new wavelengths – 630 nm (beneficial for skin) and 810 nm (supports clearer focus and mental clarity)
    – A total of 6 innovative wavelengths
    – LEDs with Multi-Wavelength Dual Chip technology for even distribution
    – Three spectrum modes (RED only, NIR only, or a combination)
Do MITO LIGHT® devices emit heat?
Yes, thanks to near-infrared light, you’ll feel a pleasant warmth.
    Are MITO LIGHT® devices safe?
Yes, all devices meet strict European CE and RoHS certifications. They are generally safe and emit no harmful UV radiation.
Can children use red and near-infrared light?
Yes, but keep it gentle and supervised. For minors, choose modest settings: place the light about 40 to 70 cm away and keep sessions to 5 to 10 minutes per area. Start conservatively and adjust based on comfort.

    Always consult a doctor first.
Is red and near-infrared light good for pets?
Yes, and they love it! It works similarly on pets as it does on humans.

Many owners use red and near-infrared light around their pets with good results. Keep sessions short and supervised, and let the animal choose distance or move away as it prefers. Red light is more surface-oriented, while near-infrared is selected for a farther reach below the surface. Light use can support natural processes for everyday readiness and comfortable movement. For individual situations, ask a veterinarian.

Are red and near-infrared (NIR) spectra used together or separately?
Most often together, as they complement each other. However, you can use them separately as well.

For example, in the evening, it’s ideal to use the invisible NIR spectrum, which doesn’t overstimulate the body but instead supports the night-time sleep signals.

If you have skin sensitivity to heat, opt for red light (RED), which doesn’t cause heating and is gentler on the skin.

How do you switch between RED, NIR, and combination modes on the Bulb 4.0?
The bulb offers 3 modes – RED + NIR (both spectra together), RED (red only), and the barely visible NIR (near-infrared spectrum).

To switch between modes, simply turn the bulb off and on again within 10 seconds. Each subsequent activation cycles through the modes in the order: RED + NIR –> RED –> NIR.

If you use any mode for more than 10 seconds, the bulb will remember and activate the last used mode the next time it is turned on.

See how it works in practice.
What are the differences between Bulb 4.0 and Bulb 5.0?
Because we're constantly striving to push the boundaries of red light therapy, we're continuously developing and testing. The new Bulb 5.0 builds on the foundation of its predecessor – so both have their place.

The Bulb 4.0 already came with exceptional 6 wavelengths, high irradiance power, Flicker-Free technology, and Multi-Wavelength Dual Chip. The bulb shines continuously without subliminal flickering, and wavelengths are distributed evenly.

The Bulb 5.0 model additionally includes:
    – MITO LIGHT mobile app support (free for iOS and Android)
    – easy control from your phone – simply choose RED, NIR, or a combination of both
    – precise 1% intensity adjustment (1–100%) for RED and NIR individually
    – therapy timer directly in the app for greater convenience
    – evening ambient light mode for relaxation
    – favorite quick settings – save your most frequently used settings (% RED/NIR and therapy time) for instant use

    – 4 preset modes for instant use – Complete Therapy, Skin & Beauty, Evening Recovery, and Ambient Light
    – enhanced light alarm with sunrise simulation – set the time and intensity in the app, the panel gradually lights up from 1% over 100 seconds with silent fans
    – touchscreen display with better resolution and more intuitive controls
When should you adjust the intensity of the light spectrum?
For maximum benefits, we recommend using 100% intensity.

You can lower the intensity if:
    – you are new to your light routine – we recommend starting at 50–60% and gradually increasing. If higher intensity is comfortable, there’s no need to reduce it.
    – you are sensitive to light. In this case, you can reduce the intensity of the red light (RED).
    – your skin reacts unpleasantly to heat. Near-infrared light (NIR) produces slight warmth, but you can keep RED at maximum.
    – the therapy at 100% feels uncomfortable. Always listen to your body, feelings, and needs.
Do MITO LIGHT® devices emit heat?

    – touchscreen display with better resolution and more intuitive controls
What are the preset modes on Generation 5.0 panels for?

Generation 5.0 offers 4 preset modes that you can start with a single tap on the display. Each one is designed for a specific situation and purpose:

    COMPLETE THERAPY
Combines 100% RED and 100% NIR for 10 minutes. This mode is designed to target both surface and deeper tissue layers simultaneously. Red light focuses on the skin, collagen, and hair, while near-infrared light focuses on deeper-level structures like muscles or joints. This combination supports natural energy processes inside cells, overall recovery, smooth skin and a young-looking appearance. A great choice for morning or afternoon sessions when you want a comprehensive approach.

    BEAUTY & SKIN
100% RED only for 10 minutes. This mode focuses exclusively on the skin and its surface layers. The red spectrum is designed to support collagen and elastin production, which may contribute to firmer-looking skin and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It may also help with an even-looking tone and a young-looking glow. Without the near-infrared component, there's no warming effect – making it a gentler option for those with sensitive skin.

    EVENING RECOVERY
100% NIR only for 10 minutes. The invisible near-infrared spectrum is designed to reach deeper tissue layers and promotes a comfortable feeling around joints and stressed muscle areas. This mode may help with post-activity recovery and overall comfort. The 810 nm wavelength is also often associated with good mood and mental clarity. Since this mode doesn't include intense visible red light, it is unlikely to interfere with your body's natural sleep preparation – making it suitable for use even 2–3 hours before bed.

    AMBIENT LIGHT
A gentle 1% RED for 20 minutes. Creates a pleasant, dimmed atmosphere for evening relaxation, meditation, or reading. The low-intensity red light avoids the blue spectrum that may disrupt your circadian rhythm. This may help your body naturally wind down without having to sit in complete darkness.

    Frequently Asked Questions - Intro

MITO LIGHT® 3.0: Each LED contains two powerful chips, ensuring high intensity and effective light emission.

Other Manufacturers: Lower light output overall from fewer LEDs.

    Flicker-Free Technology
MITO LIGHT® 3.0: The LEDs emit continuous light – just like sunlight – eliminating concerns about headaches or fatigue.

Other Manufacturers: Without Flicker-Free technology, LEDs imperceptibly flicker, which can make therapy sessions less pleasant.

    Intuitive Digital Display
MITO LIGHT® 3.0: Easily set time or light mode using a quality digital display.

Other Manufacturers: Many panels lack any adjustment options.

    Multi-Panel Connection
MITO LIGHT® 3.0: Easily connect multiple Generation 3.0 devices with cables. All panels can then be controlled by a single primary unit.

Other Manufacturers: Panels often cannot be connected, requiring separate adjustments for each.

    European CE Quality Certification
MITO LIGHT®: Together with RoHS certification, it guarantees 100% safety and exceptional quality. All testing is conducted in European laboratories.

Other Manufacturers: Testing and certification outside Europe may not meet the strictest safety and quality standards.

    Premium Customer Care
MITO LIGHT®: Friendly, quick, and highly professional. Our team answers all your questions – from product selection to technology and usage – to help you get the most out of your experience.

Other Manufacturers: Impersonal advice, longer wait times, and a one-size-fits-all approach. Customer care may not address specific issues.

    30-Day Money-Back Guarantee
MITO LIGHT®: Confident in our products, we offer a 30-day money-back guarantee, allowing you to test their quality firsthand.

Other Manufacturers: Typically 14 days or longer, but with stringent conditions that unnecessarily prolong the process – and sometimes make returns impossible.

    3-Year Warranty
MITO LIGHT®: We’ve added an extra year to the standard warranty, thanks to high-quality materials and craftsmanship that ensure durability.

Other Manufacturers: Standard warranty without additional benefits.
